Saina Nehwal - Shuttle Singles - Gold Medal





Women shuttlers led by singles title—favourite Saina Nehwal provided India with a golden double to pilot the country to a historic second—place finish in the Commonwealth Games that ended here today.

Suranjoy Singh - Flyweight 52kg - Gold Medal

Asian champion Suranjoy Singh (52kg) just had to hop into the ring to fetch a gold.

India's Suranjoy Singh on Wednesday won the Commonwealth Games flyweight gold by a walkover after his opponent failed to show.



The 24-year-old from Manipur in northeast India stood in the ring for five minutes but with no sign of Kenya's Benson Njangiru, the referee declared him the winner

Krishna Poonia - Womens's Dicus Throw - Gold Medal

India bagged first Commonwealth Games athletics Gold in 52 years after Krishna Poonia won the women's discus throw final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Monday.




Poonia led an Indian clean sweep in the women's discus final, winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal with a throw of 61.51 metres. Harwant Kaur came second (60.16) and Seema Antil was third (58.46).

Indian world champion Sushil Kumar delighted an expectant home crowd with a gold in the Commonwealth Games freestyle wrestling 66kg on Sunday.



Somdev Devvarman - Men's singles in Tennis - Gold Medal

Somdev Devvarman of India became the first Commonwealth Games men's singles champion on Sunday cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Greg Jones of Australia.


















The top seed's win had local fans on their feet, 24 hours after the despair of seeing Indian glamour girl Sania Mirza lose the women's singles final in a deciding tie-break to Anastasia Rodionova of Australia.
